Air water channel formed
Requested application
The client, an EPC contractor in the paper mill and ventilation systems sector, required a heat recovery solution for paper mills using so-called white water, water containing residual fibers in non-negligible quantities that can clog a traditional heat exchanger compromising its operation or requiring frequent cleaning with excessive plant downtime.

Solution
Development, design and construction of an air-water heat exchanger with "channel formed" plates. Using the flexibility of laser welding and FIC's plate inflation technology, a special plate was developed to enable use with fluids containing impurities - as in this case - without performance degradation over time. Furthermore, the use of special removable and fully accessible manifolds for cleaning operations facilitates extraordinary maintenance operations.
